Black Bean Burgers

I originally made this recipe for my 2026 bingo challenge, but I ended up loving it so much that I added it to the dinner rotation. You can read more about my first attempt on my blog. I've spent many nights perfecting this recipe, and I'd love for you to try it yourself one day.

Ingredients

The toppings are up to you, including cheese. I don't know what you like on your burger!

You can easily make this vegan by replacing the egg with flaxseed egg.

  1. Add onion and bell pepper to food processor. Pulse until finely chopped.
  2. Move processed mixture to sieve and use spatula to press water out.
  3. Add black beans to food processor. Pulse until chopped.
  4. Add every ingredient and spice to large mixing bowl. Mix until satisfied.

From here, you have two options. One, you can form them into burgers and cook them like you'd cook any other burger. Two, you can form them into burgers, add them to individual parchment paper slices, then freeze them. If you're going to freeze them, make sure you let them thaw a little bit before you cook them. Putting them in the fridge the morning of would be perfect. You can still cook them from frozen, just make sure you keep it low and slow until they're thawed.
